Thank you, supporters! You guys are such a blessing and have helped me get where I am today!

I raised a total of $15,800 in the matter of 6 months and that’s all thanks to y’all.

This is how I got here:

I found out April 30th that I got accepted to the race. I had no idea how I was gonna make the deadline of the first few dates because I applied later than most.

It took me a couple months as well to decide if this was what I absolutely wanted to do or if I wanted to go to college. I told myself this is where I need to be. I needed a break from school, wanted to leave an impact on people, and craved working with kids. What better way to do it then a gap year program? It has children’s ministry and being able to plant seeds all around the world for Gods good works to happen.

So after officially deciding that I was going, I started fundraising. I sent out letters to all of my extended family members, friends of family, and friends parents. I also got a bunch of graduation money that all went towards my mission fund. Plus, my mission trip my junior year got canceled because of COVID-19 and I got all of the money back, so that was a huge help at first.

I needed $9,000 by the beginning of June so I could come to boot camp... and I got it right before. The next two months I was still getting donations in the mail before training camp. I started training camp with $10,800 dollars and I still had a long way to go before the ending goal. I came to training camp scared because most people were fully funded and I had no idea how I was going to do it away from home. We had days during training camp though specifically set aside for fundraising which was very helpful. I called my great aunt, cousin, and my other great aunt and they each gave $1000. That got me to $13,800. Then I called one more supporter and he gave $500. Then, I also did two more fundraisers; one on social media that got me $200 (that was adopt a bubble) and my friend said if I get fully funded by my birthday, she’d cut her hair into bangs for me. I had to get $600 in 4 days. I got $200 from my aunt and $200 towards my friend cutting bangs but still had $200 left. Generously, my dads friend from high school covered it!

Once again thank you for all of your support during this fundraising journey. I encourage you to keep reading my blogs to see the updates from my trip!
